Rock-psych band ‘PRETTY’ discuss the inspiration behind wonderfully unusual EP ‘Citrus Magic’

In the fifth episode of The Curve’s Magazine’s Behind the Artist, the podcast that explores your next favourite tracks and the artists behind them, we talk with Toronto based psych band, PRETTY.

Currently consisting of Torin Craig, Eliot Rossi, Will Macquarrie, Brian Heyes and Morgan Zych, the band pulls influences from a variety of classic and modern artists including Nirvana, early Pink Floyd, Gong, Ty Segall and the 13th Floor Elevators

PRETTY’s newest EP ‘Citrus Magic’ came out earlier this summer. The self described “cathartic” EP driven by post-pandemic frustration melts together psychedelic influences and the band’s distinctive DYI punks sounds they’re most known for or in their words “dark and mysterious bad trip music”. Covering a range of emotions from futility, heart break, and yearning to the sense of knowing that the life decisions you’re making may not be the best things for you.

During the interview we discussed the band’s writing process, their quirky music videos, how ‘citrus magic’ came together and more.
